Port of Songkhla is located in the Gulf of
Thailand at 07 � �13'.7 N. 100� � 34'.5 E. It stands at the entrance of
Songkhla lake in Singhanakorn District, Songkhla. The Port is about 50 km. from Hatyai Internationnal Airport, and 30 km. from Hatyai railway station. The Access to the port by land can be either through the highway 407 from Hatyai then via the Tinnasulanont bridge or through the coastal highway 408 from Nakorn Srithammarat. |

Access for vessels entering or leaving the port is through the bar channel which is about 4 km. in length and 120 m. wide The turning basin is 300 m. in diameter at the west end of the quay. The Tidal range is about 0.6-1.1 m. | ![]() |
The major export cargoes are rubber, frozen sea food, canning goods and furniture. The
major import cargoes are equipment. The Port is expected to be utilized to its full capacity in 1996, and the government is now planning for port expansion. |
![]() The channel is dredged and maintained to a depth of 9. m.. Vessels entering the port are limited to a maximum length of 173 m. and the maximum draft of 8.23 m. Port of Songkhla is composed of 3 berths, with a total quay length of 510 m. and a 30 m. wide apron. Two berths are for ships with break bulk or general cargoes, where as the other is for conrtainer ships. |
